We gather two types of information about our users:

Personal data may be requested when you

Aggregated data tracks our user activity as a whole, not on an individual basis, and is acquired by several means. This tracking data follows Mediacorp traffic in general, and is not used to identify you personally.
Aggregated tracking information helps us to determine which areas of our site are popular with our users and which are not. This enables us to provide you with better service. We may disclose such aggregated information to third parties, such as our advertisers and partners.
Membership services.
In order to use Mediacorp's membership services, you will be requested to register. During registration, you will be asked to supply your name, a password of your choice, your age, gender, zip code, and/or country information. Mediacorp shares this information with our e-mail service provider(s) in order to retrieve your password when necessary. This data is considered highly confidential, and we use high-level encryption when communicating it to our e-mail provider.
Cookies and Tracking
A cookie is a small data file that Web sites commonly send to your hard drive once you have visited them. A cookie file contains information that can identify your computer in order to track traffic patterns within our site. This data is encrypted for your added security. Mediacorp uses cookies in order to ensure that we are providing you with the best possible service.
Cookies are also installed for your convenience. Since they 'remember" your computer, they enable you to enter Mediacorp sites as a member without having to log on each time. They also allow you to visit member-restricted areas of the site.
Cookies do not identify you personally, but rather identify your computer, when you visit our site. Furthermore, they cannot read data off your hard drive, nor read cookie files from other sites.
Your can set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies. If you choose to do so, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. You may refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. You do not need to have cookies in order to use Mediacorp, but you do need them for certain customizable sites, such as local weather forecasts.
Electronic Newsletters
Mediacorp offers electronic newsletters as a free service, to which you may subscribe. We do not share newsletter mailing lists with any third parties unless you voluntarily permit us to do so when you register.
Mediacorp Shops
Information you may provide during a transaction with a store hosted by Mediacorp is automatically provided to the owner of that store. This includes credit card and personal contact information. Each of these on-line stores carries its own privacy and data collection practices. Mediacorp assumes no responsibility for the practices of these stores. Please remember that while Mediacorp does not share any personal information it receives during user registration, any postings to Mediacorp Message Boards or Discussion Areas become public information.
